Eric de Nie's style has developed from being reminiscent of a late echo of constructivism towards nullifying the severity of geometry with the relaxation of the touch.
In a purely abstract approach, he tends to make every reference to a former significance of the landscape disappear. The shapes and forms always depart from the four sides of the canvas and are applied intuitively, attempting to minimise the interference of the rational mind. (...) In De Nie, space is almost invariably a dark backdrop where polychrome patches seem to be continually spiralling.
